Mendip AC Junior Academy (MAC JAC)

MAC JAC provides our young members with a great introduction to the fundamental skills of athletics and will give them a good foundation in running, jumping and throwing techniques, which they can then take forward to junior and event level training.

We meet in the Summer at the far end of the Millfield Athletics track, Street (BA16 0YD) and from October – March in the Sport’s Hall at Crispin School, Street (BA16 OAD).

Millfield training: 6.30pm – 7.45pm
Crispin training: 6.15pm – 7.15pm

A register is taken at every session and training consent forms should be completed on your first visit. Please bring your child to the track/sport’s hall as they cannot cross the carparks unsupervised.
MAC JAC provides training for children in Year 3-5, when they will then progress to MAC. Members will be grouped according to age and in some cases individual ability, as some athletes will have more training experience than others.
All members follow the national UKA course of 365 Athletics, a multi event, young people development programme. Our Coaches and Coaching Assistants are all UKA qualified and our D of E volunteers are taking the UKA Youth Leaders qualification in October.

Athletics 365 – England Athletics

It is important to arrive promptly for warm-up activities, which are then followed by three 20 minute sessions, to include run, jump and throw training, each week. A group cool-down jog and stretching, completes training.
Please make sure your child has a hoody, track suit bottoms, comfortable trainers (spikes are optional), hat and gloves. The Millfield track can get very cold by the end of the session. Wet weather kit is advised if rain is forecast.
A water bottle and a healthy snack (banana, cereal bar) are also essential.

Toilets are available at both venues and we ask that your child goes to the bathroom before training as we cannot supervise them if they leave the session.
